Bio

Dr. Anderson specializes in minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgery and is committed to providing children with the most advanced surgical care. Along with his clinical practice, he is actively involved in minimally invasive research at the Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement at Florida Hospital Celebration Health.

Dr. Anderson is a board-certified general surgeon and board certified in pediatric surgery. Dr. Anderson was born and raised in Iowa where he studied for his undergraduate and medical school degree at the University of Iowa. After receiving his medical degree, he moved to San Antonio to complete general surgical residency training at the University of Texas. During his residency, he completed a two year research fellowship studying neuroblastoma, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and human blood substitutes at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During his pediatric surgery fellowship at The University of Texas and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he was further trained in general pediatric surgery and pediatric surgical oncology. Dr. Anderson is one of only a few surgeons who have completed a formal, one year training program in pediatric minimally invasive surgical techniques at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama.
